I ran across this picture of one of the very first Eloise dolls ever made in l957.
Maybe she was the first 18" doll!
She was designed by a lady from Vienna named Vilma Kurzer who made a clay model of her face so that she could build a cloth mold over the clay. Then she made a face of silk and painted it. Her hair was made of genuine wool yarn to give her that "fly away mop top". I like how her hands and legs
can bend. In 1957 Good Housekeeping Magazine feature Eloise.
