A clearing in the thicket.
A knock on the tree.
Grandma is here
To have tea with me.
Mud cookies on the table
and leafy cakes too.
We pretend to take bites and sip murky brew.
Fun places to be:
Long ago, on my grandmother's farm, I served her tea (your great great grandmother) in my playhouse in the cottonwood trees.
Remember the fairy house we worked on, down by the river in the mountains, listening to the river rushing over the rocks, and arranging pine twigs and leaves?
And there was the Mud Pie Factory in the mighty fir trees, where your mom and auntie used to make the very best mud cakes! And the slugs also came to see.
Fun things to remember.

Hi Miss C,
Your doll is sweet.
When I tell people that I have been sewing doll clothes for you,
they say, "I have a doll like that too!"
My first doll looked a little like yours,
She was very short. About 8 inches tall.
She came in a pink suitcase with lots of clothes,
and sometimes I played with her
in the crook of a big old cottonwood tree.

Hi Miss C, The bluebirds are back, and "feathering the nest" in the bluebird house that Grandpa built. Soon they will be laying eggs, and feeding their young- fresh worms and bugs! Our neighbor has 50 bluebird houses in his yard. Sometimes the bluebirds stand on the roofs. I wonder if they're enjoying the view or just taking a rest. (I'll post a photo of them soon.)
